you I mean I'm not sure how many of us have been keeping up with the studies that I've been leading out in over the last six or seven weeks I think I know most of you were there at the prophecy school which was just a continuation of the theme that we've been studying in our classes I'm sure each of us has a an awareness both intellectually through a study of Scripture and also from our observations of what's happening in the world the probations about to close what we have been speaking about over the last twenty eight years about to be completed when we begin to understand our own experience as priests as we approach that event it shouldn't surprise us that there has been a directed and systematic attack upon the truths that were established decades ago in this movement what should surprise us is that when in the tempers attempt has been made to redirect us to reground us to take us back to our foundational truths when that work is attempted to be done people see that very work as an attack upon the foundations of our message so that leads me to the conclusion that many of us really are not familiar with the truths that we claim to believe to put it another way we have a superficial understanding of what this message is all about if you're unable to distinguish between truth and error I'm going to read them just a short statement from a thought friend amount of the blessings page 6 paragraph 1 coding is 6 MB through MB 6.1 many of the thoughts and ideas that were going to be speaking about in this divine hour is just a collection of the thoughts that I've tried to share over the last few weeks this is the Beatitudes that are being discussed here is chapter 1 of the book 3 chapter 2 of the book Beatitudes and other white is gonna reference Matthew chapter 5 verses 2 & 3 Christ he opened his mouth and taught them saying blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven there's something strange in you these words fall upon the ears of the wandering multitude such teaching is contrary to all they have have ever heard from priest or rabbi they seen it nothing to fatted their pride or to feed their ambitious hopes so it shouldn't surprise us that this message that we are given to the church that we are having to internalize ourselves is something strange and something new now if we want to think about all the attacks that are happening against this movement today under the various guises those attacks are something strange in you but when we start talking about the gospel and our understanding of the gospel is which has been the cornerstone of what this movement is about when a defense for that gospel is now being made and I'm suggesting that defense is the work that's been happening over at the school the last five or six weeks that in itself is now in the minds of some people being considered as an attack or a strange in your doctoring that's been introduced into this movement I don't if we're all familiar with the what the word the coup d'etat means it's a French word the literal translation means an overthrow of the state or the nation or the government if we were to go to first Kings chapter 18 which we're not going to go to we know that on Mount Carmel there's a battle that's going on and that battle is between Elijah and the prophets of bale and the congregation are looking onward to see who's going to win that fight I'm suggesting that each of us should have the mental acumen the ability to be able to understand the little stories which are parables at different levels the level that I'm suggesting that that passage should be understood in the context that I want to give it in is within this movement there's a truth of God which is now going to be established by Elijah and he stands in opposition to the prophets of bale and many in these people sorry many of the people in this movement represented by the congregation don't seem to be able to distinguish between who God is and who man is so I don't if everybody here listen to the studies the last two or three this week but we address this issue in class and I'm suggesting that there is a misunderstanding of what it means to follow man and that misunderstanding on the part of those people is an erroneous doctrine that's been introduced into this message by the prophets of Bayonne the false prophets and that misunderstanding is to introduce a moral component into our gospel when I say our gospel it's the gospel the everlasting gospel and anyone who would introduce the different gospel as the scripture reading teaches us will be accursed so this issue about what the gospel is is an important one it's one that each of us needs to understand and I'm suggesting that the studies that we've been carrying out at school of the prophets have been nothing more than a defense of what has been taught as I say for over two decades people now young and old young and old I mean both new to the faith and established in the faith as they're being challenged with this and clarity's being brought to this issue and now thinking that there's an overthrow of the state of affairs that's going on by me and others who hold to the position that I hold to that the everlasting gospel is a three-step prophetic test I want to take my thoughts from Acts chapter 3 there are many things we could talk about but I want us to look at Acts chapter 3 there a couple of things I want to do in this brief study and one of them is to remind us that the scriptures are exhaustless we surface read the scriptures and we think we have a good grasp of what they're teaching until the Holy Spirit raises up a man and says you could look at these scriptures a different way and as soon as that happens people become nervous because they think what's happening is a coup d'etat an overthrow of the state of a face I fully understand and I'm aware that the things that I teach my teaching style and methodology shakes people comes as a surprise and some people are not able to distinguish between the truth and the error between the work of God and the work of man but I contend that the methodology that I'm using for those will limitless rules and is open to examination each of you have to come to a decide it is a decision whether or not that statement is factual or not so I said that we're going to take our studies from Acts chapter 3 and we are but I just want to show us a couple of verses a couple of thoughts ideas to defend what I've just said so if we were to go to Romans chapter 3 verse 9 what then are we better than they know in nowise for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles that they are all under sin as it is written there is none righteous no not one there is none that understandeth there is none that seeketh after God they are all gone away they are all gone out of the way they're all together there they are together unprofitable there is none that doeth good no not one their throat is an open Sepulchre with their tongues have they used deceit the poison of ASPs is under their lips whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness the feet are Swift to shed blood destruction and misery are in their waste and the way of peace had they not known there was no fear of god in their eyes before their eyes and will stop there so paul is going to develop an argument based upon these passages that there is no difference between a Jew and the Gentile and I understand in the present-day application he's asserting the fact that there is no difference between a seventh-day adventists any seventh-day adventists and the world every single one of them is considered under sin he uses a similar phrase if we were to turn to Romans chapter 6 when he speaks about people being under sin in 614 he says the sin shall not have dominion over you for ye are not under the law but under grace if you look at the way most people will apply this passage particularly Romans chapter 3 verse 10 as it is written there is none righteous no not one Ellen White will more often than not apply that passage to God's people in its entirety and I'm saying that's a correct application but when you come to the time of the end you cannot apply this passage in the way that Adam White will apply this passage and when someone stands up like myself that makes that assertion people think this is the direct attack upon the spirit of prophecy and I'm suggesting that it's a incorrect understanding of what the reform lines teachers that brings us to this wrong conclusion without us understanding what a reform line is and when to place it we can make grave mistakes when you get to the prime periods where a reformed line is now in effect from 1989 and onward we cannot make the assertion that there is none righteous no not one to include every single person in the Adventists church or every single person in the world I hope you will understand that because Paul's argument as he develops it through the New Testament is to say that there's them and us and unless you read the spirit of prophecy very carefully you will not pick that up it's only as you get the spirit of prophecy and bring it and apply it to a line because you can begin to understand how well and why is making an application to a certain dispensation and without that understanding it's not easy to see how she applies Scripture you have the same problem when you even use pause writing to do that same work I've asked a question over a go over and over again that won't ask it because of the dynamics in which we face ourselves here I ask it but not for you to answer are we all sinners most Adventists would say yes we are and they would make that assertion because reading the spirit of prophecy would lead you in that direction that we're all sinners in need of grace to be saved but if you begin to understand how the Scriptures use this phrase how poor use is it how Ellen White uses it let's go back to where this thought and idea comes from let's go to Psalm chapter 1 verses 1 to 6 but we won't read every single verse yes it is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly nor standeth in the way of sinners nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful so if you'll be following along with the classes in you're familiar with the methodology that I use when I say I use this is william miller's methodology right in this verse scripture will interpret itself it talks about the ungodly thus it is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly nor standeth in the way of sinners nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful I'm suggesting that this verse using the typical repeating a large methodology is defining what a sinner is a sinner is someone who's ungodly who doesn't follow God and he's a scornful person and it begins by making a back-to-back comparison with a different class of people the man does blessed this blessed man has his delight in the law of the Lord and his Lord and in his law doth he meditate day and night verse 4 the ungodly are not so there are two classes but are like the chaff which the wind drives away therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous so I don't know where you would want to place verse 5 but most Adventists perhaps even ourselves would want to place the congregation of the righteous in the future but I'm suggesting based upon dined upon mine line methodology that the congregation of the righteous is a present day experience that all of us are required and inviting to enter into so all I'm saying is when the Scriptures use the word sinner depending on the context it's talking about this group of people here which we can identify with different phraseology the vile the wicked that is the false prophets compared to those who are blessed as I say you might not might among concert' and you'll be hard push to see an application of that phrase that word sinner that Ellen White would make to show two groups of people like there's this blessed group and there's this not blessed group but when you come to the time period of reform line you're required to understand it that way another example that I want to give these two thoughts are taken from Christ triumphant three three eight paragraph three and early writings 254 paragraph two I'll read them quickly the first and second messages were given in 1843 and 1844 and we are now under the proclamation of the third and skip down in the paragraph by Pelham voice we are to sound the proclamation showing their order and the application of the prophecies that bring us to the third angels message there cannot be a third without the first and the second I read her early writings two five four after Jesus opened the door of the most holy the people of God were tested i saw the third angel pointing upward showing the disappointed ones the way to the holiest of the heavenly sanctuary as they as they by faith entering the most holy they find jesus and hope and joy spring up anew I saw them looking back reviewing the past from the proclamation of the second advent of Jesus down through their experience to the passing of the time in 1844 and the disappointment was explained a surface reading of this passage would show you that from 1798 to the Year 1840 to October 1844 in April 1844 that you have the 1st 2nd and 3rd angels messages I think most people are familiar with that this would be the arrival of the first this would be the empowerment of the 1st and this would be the arrival of the 2nd and if you were to take these two passages and read them at a surface level it would lead you to think that the arrival of the third angel was October 1844 we now know that that's not correct the arrival of the third angels message in Miller right history didn't occur on October 1844 when they say that we have to understand how than why is applying these passages how she's overlaying the work of the angels and what she's trying to teach us because if we're not careful we're apt to make mistakes it can be demonstrated and I think we went through this at the prophecy school that this is not indeed the third angel's message that arrives but it's the empowerment of the third and if we don't understand this concept in middle-right history we cannot make a correct application of that history into our own history as I say if you read Ellen White's writings very carefully she will tell you that the third angel's message did indeed arrived here now it's not my purpose of my presentation study now is to show why there's a discrepancy all I'm saying that there is a discrepancy that each of us need to be aware of and being able to reconcile so when I say it's this people think there's a coup d'etat going on or it's some strange new doctrine that's overthrowing the foundations of our message and I'm saying I am prepared to open myself and explain in detail why that is and how it's a defense of our foundational truths not an attack people are nervous today because there are many people who are moving their angels messages from one place to another at the same time there are people who are putting them back in their proper place even though we may have had a clear understanding of where they should have been in the first place I'll give one more example this is taken from the great controversy and it's essentially chapter 38 the final warning there's much that we could read through this and I don't really intend to do that but if you see contextually chapter 36 is titled the impending conflicts chapter 37 is the Scriptures a safeguard and chapter 38 is the final warning they didn't gone leading you on to chapter 39 the time of trouble my understanding is that if this is the sunday Lord which is the u.s. Sunday law this is the close of probation this is chapter 38 and this is chapter 39 from the great controversy final warning the time of trouble I'm sure everybody agrees with that the lead paragraph of this chapter begins with revelation 18 one two and four so another mighty eight saw another angel come down from heaven having great power and the earth was lightened with his glory and he cried mightily with a strong voice saying Babylon the Great is fallen is fallen and as you begin to read through this chapter she's going to direct you to the understanding that revelation 18 and I'll just put verses 1 and 2 were filled here at the Sunday law and you know as well as I do for a long time we've taught otherwise in our movement so every single one of us has to come up with a reason argument of why we stand in opposition to a plain reading of the spirit of prophecy so I given you Romans chapter 3 that people read that in various different ways were spoken about sinners people read that in different ways we've spoken about the third angels message its arrival or its empowerment and we've spoken about revelation 18 these are not all the passages that we could go to the point I'm trying to make is that we need to take inspiration and bring it to a line in order to correctly divide the Word of God I remember when I first got into this message I was at a prophecy school with elder Jeff this was a long time ago the meetings had finished everybody gone to bed and we're all sitting around the dining table and I was totally confused about what was going on and I said what is all of this that you're talking about and he said it's all about the lines I said are you telling me that the only way you can be saved is by understanding lines and I was told yes and when I was told that I didn't understand what that meant took me a number of years to work that out how can one person be saved by lines and this argument we can understand it being outside of the church but this argument perpetuates itself within our movement there are people in our movement who don't actually believe that that you are saved by lines now I know that faith is at all in the hand of God so when I say we're saved by lines they want to be misunderstood to say lines are Christ but the lines of the methodology that Christ is going to use to redeem his people and we're required to take inspiration and apply them to those lines correctly and the discussion that's going on today is is this group of people doing it correctly or is this group of people doing it correctly so I want to give an example of that and we'll go to Acts chapter 3 in a verse one I'm going to read from verse one all the way down to verse 24 and then we're going to go back and we're going to make application selectively through those verses because we can't go through all of those verses in detail so when we read from verses 1 to 24 so we can get context now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of Prayer been the ninth hour and a certain man man lame from his mother's womb was carried whom they daily whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called beautiful to ask arms of them that entered into the temple who see and Paul and John about to go into the temple sorry Peter and John who seen Peter and John about to go into the temple asked and arms and Peter fast in his eyes upon him with John said look on us and he gave heed unto them expecting to receive something to them then Peter said silver and gold have I none but such as I have I give thee in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk and he took him by the right hand lifted him up and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength and he leaped up and he leaping up stood and walked and entered with them into the temple walking and leaping and praising God and all the people saw him walking and praising God and they knew that it was he which sat for arms at the beautiful gate of the temple and they were filled with Wonder and amazement at that which had had happened unto him there's the lame man which was healed held Peter and Peter and John all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's greatly wandering and when Peter saw it he acted under the people you men of Israel why Marvel ye at this or why look he so earnestly on us as though are as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man walk the God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob the god of our fathers glorify His Son Jesus whom ye delivered up and denied him in the presence of Pilate when he was determined to let him go but ye denied the Holy One and Jah and the just and desired a murderer to be granted unto you and killed the Prince of life whom God has raised from the dead whereof we now are witnesses and his name through faith in his name has made this man strong whom ye see and know yay the faith which is by him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all and now brethren I wot that through ignorance ye did it as did your rulers but those things which God before had showed by the mouths of his prophets the Christ should suffer he hath so fulfilled repented therefrom be converted that your sins may be blotted out when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord and he shall send Jesus Christ whom before was preached unto you whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things which God has spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began for Moses truly said unto the father's a prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren like unto me him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever ye sure he shall say unto you and he shall come to pass that every soul which will not hear that prophet shall be destroyed from among the people yay and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after as many as have spoken have likewise foretold of these days we could go on to the end of the chapter but we'll stop there go back to verse 1 I'm saying this when Ellen White is going to apply these verses particularly verse 19 in connection with verse 18 and 20 she's going to make a particular application now we have to understand for ourselves whether or not this is the only application of these passages or is there another application to these passages we didn't read chapter 38 the final warning and neither did we go into chapter 39 but if we were to do that we would understand the the latter rain which is connected with the loud cry happens here at the Sunday law in this history here and Ellen White is clearing her warnings to the church that we cannot be partakers of the latter rain unless we receive the former rain when we are required to perfect holiness in the fear of the Lord before being partakers of this work conceptually I think we all understand why because if we were to imprint upon this line the history of the beginning of the book of Acts Pentecost we know that this would be Pentecost the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the outcome of the Holy Spirit that's given that Pentecost serves a specific role is it to perfect holiness no it's to give a Gospel message to a lost and dying world and so the application from the book of Acts is how we normally apply endtime history endtime prophecy by saying here at the Sunday law Revelation 18 verse 4 a message of warning the Babylon has fallen and the message to come out of Babylon is given here at the Sunday law which we give to the world through this cry which is synonymous with the latter rain so that's how we would normally apply that passage and that's how well and why it applies that passage if you read her writings carefully now we're going to go into a reformed line and we're going to make an application here and if we were talking about the priest how would we apply this this would be midnight and this would be nine eleven and this would be 2014 and I'm not here to demonstrate or to prove why that is correct or true I'm just making the assertion that it is there from 9/11 to the midnight cry so it's a midnight which is Joel chapter 2 verse 23 a period of one month it rains for the whole month first the former rain then the latter rain and the way it's going to make an application at this level not at this level so when we take her statements and which were applied at this level and we then bring it into our own reform line then use her same statements in this history in the same way that she uses it when applied to verse 19 we begin to become stuck if I can use that phraseology I'm not saying her application is incorrect but what I've tried to show you I gave you four examples how you can apply scripture in different ways and we do that all the time when our reform line so there's Peter and John verse one they went up into the temple at the hour of prayer being the night hour so they're going on their way to the temple I don't know where we were taste the night tower then if people have a any sort idea where you would place that but normally we were placed the ninth hour let me take these out if this was the midnight cry we normally place the ninth hour here tonight's our the sixth hour and the third hour so again I don't have the time to prove that but that's where I'm placing the ninth tower where they begin to engage with this person who's been laying I understand that if we begin to understand if we begin to consider some of the new light we can make an assertion that we might pull some of these times back but for the purposes of this study I want to leave it where it is verse Oh anything that we want to say about that no I'm okay with that that's verse one verse tone and a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called beautiful to ask arms of them that entered into the temple it's going to tell you later on in the passage that this man has been laying for forty years so we had the symbol of forty that takes you this to this point again I'm not worried whether it's midnight a midnight cry because we can I know that the latest understanding would mitigate against that but that's not the point I want to make if you were just to read the scripture here you would come to the understanding that he was being brought to the gate beautiful all of his life and in fact he wasn't if you check Ellen White's writing on this she says that this man first of all had known about Christ he's known about Christ he was brought to Jerusalem to the temple to find Christ wherever he had come from on finding that Christ had died he was then taken to the gate beautiful on a daily basis presumably so that he could ask arms of the people this was not an activity that he had been doing all of his life so the first thing that teaches us is that this man already had known about Christ he had already heard about him but he hadn't had an opportunity to be healed or get to know him so that's one point I want us to understand the second point is when it talks about the gate beautiful the gate is a symbol it's a symbol of at least a few things Gate can symbolize judgment and it can also symbol au symbolize the house of God which is the church which is the church triumphant so the introduction of the gate that's been brought to view here is the introduction of the church triumphant and it's the introduction that judgments coming or being brought to this man the word beautiful a simple understanding of the word beautiful doesn't really do much for you it's G 56:10 it means beautiful flourishing etc but it also means belonging to the right hour or season or timely it's from another word 56:10 one word below that and it means the hour or the time of day at or part of the day or a definite point in time so when this man sitting at the gate beautiful to connect those thoughts together what the Scriptures are teaching us is that at this moment in time is the point in a reformed line where this man who has had an understanding of who Jesus is but hasn't had an interaction with him this is the point that he begins to be judged it's the hour of his judgment it's the hour where he now is going to have to come and join this church if he decides to have done so so two points we want to pick up he's already understood who Jesus is but he hasn't met Jesus so he's waiting there and at this very moment the gate beautiful is the moment or the time period the fixed point where he's going to join the church everybody can see that so it's not just beautiful in some kind of way that we would normally understand it the root of the word means to happen at the right time verse 3 we're gonna skip verse 4 we're gonna skip and verse 6 we're going to speak skip because they're asking about all of these gifts and what they can offer him and what he wants from them verse 7 and he took him Peter took him by the right hand and lifted him up and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength so the first thing we want to see is that these hand is being offered to this man so we know that the stone of Daniel chapter 2 is cut out without hand it's done by the hand of God so this man who's going to now be introduced and brought into the church that has to be done by a hand that hand Peters hand he's now going to cut this man from ladis ear and bring him into Ephesus that's what that symbol is I'm understanding it to be the right hand lifted him up and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength so again that the Prophet Scot we've done it in our class is the symbol of the feet is a symbol of Bible prophecy I'll give you the references that you could look at at least a few of them Song of Solomon chapter 7 paragraph 1 Song of Solomon 7:1 Isaiah 52 7 and Romans 10:15 Isaiah 52 7 Romans 10:15 all of those are talking about beautiful feet so this man who has his feet suddenly healed now has beautiful feet will read Isaiah 52 7 how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings that publishes peace that bringeth good tidings of good that publishes salvation that saith unto Zion by God reigneth Romans 10:15 and how shall they preach except they be sent and this is written how beautiful are the feet upon them the sword the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things so these beautiful feet that are now healed is the Commission at the right time for this man to join the church triumphant and he begins to do a work of giving the gospel to another group of people that's what that symbology is there and connected with feet shoes we could go I'll give you a few Bible passages he zekiel 1610 he's equals 1610 mark 6-9 and Ephesians 6:15 season 6:15 mark 69 Ezekiel 16 10 the one that I want us to I'm going to read for us his vision 6:15 it's the most famous of the three and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace so when this fan has had his feet healed he's now going to have his feet beautiful he's now going to have the commission to give the gospel once he's joined Peter and John that's what that is teaching there verse 8 and he leaping up stood and walked and entered with them into the temple walking and leaping and praising God so you know that the most important thing that's happening in that passage verse eight is that this man is leaping so want us to consider what leaping means so if you're great again go into the Greek and you understand what you read what leaping up means it's G 18:14 and G 18 14 is a composite of two words two words the first part is the place or origin so there's a place of origin or something and the other part is the gushing forth of water so if you put those together it's talking about when it says leaping it's talking about the origin of the gushing forth of water and what is the origin or the place of the gushing forth of water if we were to go to John chapter 7 verses 37 to 39 passage that were all familiar with John 7:37 239 in the last day that great day or that great day of the feast Jesus stood and Christ saying if any man thirst they don't come unto me and drink he that believeth on me as the scripture hath said out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water but this spake the he of the Spirit which they that believed on him should receive for the Holy Spirit was not yet given because that Jesus was not yet glorified John 16:8 so when this man is leaping up the term leap leaping up means the place or origin of the gushing forth of water the origin of the gushing forth of water he's out of the belly and in this message we all understand what the belly is revelation 10 verse 9 Ezekiel 3 3 so we'll just do the doubling ones revelation 10 10 Revathy sorry revelation 10 10 Ezekiel 3 3 and I took the little book out the Angels hand ate it up and it was in my mouth sweet as honey and as soon as I had eaten it my belly was bitter he's equal 3 3 he said unto me son of man cause die bunny to eat and fill thy bowels with this role that I give thee so the belly I'm suggesting is kaha the from the heart the abundance of everything comes out so this message that comes out of the heart is what is the book that was eaten that went into our belly and the message that we speak so when this man is leaping he's telling us that he is joining the church triumphant and he has understood the message and he is preaching it because now his feet have been made beautiful and he's got the gospel his feet are clad with the sandals or the shoes of the gospel so now we've gone to the belly so let's go to Daniel 2 verse 32 these images had this images head was a fine gold his breast and his arms of silver his belly and his thighs of brass so Daniel 2 is going to connect the belly and the thigh the belly and the thigh are connected we don't have time to go through brass bronze just want to pick up the connection between belly and thighs numbers 522 numbers 527 numbers 522 numbers 527 and this water that causes the curse shall go into thy bowels into thy bellies to make thy belly to swell and thy thigh to rot and the woman shall say amen amen 27 and when he hath made her to drink the water then it shall come to pass that if she if she be defiled and have done trespass against her husband that the water that causes the curse shall enter into her and become bitter and her belly shall swell inner thigh shall rot and the woman shall be a curse among her people now when you all should understand that this symbology between the woman and the husband is between the church and God the connection between the belly and the thigh is a intimate connection if we don't have the right gospel then this is the experience that we're going to have let's go to the thigh genesis 24 verse 2 Genesis 24 verse 2 and Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house that rolled over all he had put I pray thee thy hand under my thigh verse 9 and the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master and swear to him concerning they that matter Genesis 24 verse I've read verses 2 and verse 9 so if you did ass word search on what the thigh is the thigh is not this part of your leg it's referring to the organs of procreation so when Abraham is asking his servant to put his hand under that under the thigh at the most basic level it's a symbol of a covenant or an agreement that you're going to make with someone the symbol little covenant is not as I say in a literal sense it's not his thigh it's his Procrit procreative organs that are actually being held intact because that's a symbol of the Covenant so coming back to eight Acts chapter three verse 8 this man who has had his ankles and feet healed and who is now leaping and jumping around all of that is symbolic language to tell you that he's joined the church triumphant that he is now got the Gospel message in his heart and he's entered into covenant with God because the connection between the belly and the thigh is one all the people see him because he's now making manifest who and what he is verse 10 and they knew that it was he which sat at arms at the gate beautiful 3:11 and as the lay man which was healed held Peter and John all the people ran together unto them to the porch that is called Solomon's and greatly wondered so now they're going to Solomon's porch and Solomon's porch is an interesting study to do if you have had the opportunity to do that if you were to go to first King 7 7 don't go there first King 7 7 it talks about Solomon Sporty's where he makes judgment now the Solomon's porch in first King 77 is not this salt is not this porch that porch is his own house but we're going to take the symbol that Solomon's porch is a place of judgment to see that now judgment is happening because they're now in Solomon's porch but there's much more about this issue in Solomon's porch that we should understand the first thing oh I missed one point this gate beautiful if you look at the geography of the temple there are where Jesus is at it's winter and they're at the Feast of the dedication so if you at the Feast of the dedication and it's winter this is now December there abouts and there's a Feast of the dedication and if you know your feast days you know that there are no feasts in December but there is a dedication that's going on here so there's a an additional feast that Christ is participating in because he wants us to understand something about Bible prophecy and I don't know if you're aware but this feast John 10:22 is the feast that was introduced in the history of the Maccabees so this is the Makah beand dedicatory feast that Jesus is partaking in so you now know that the Maccabees are a Bible sorry our subject to Bible prophecy here at the end of the world when we come to Solomon's porch it's important to understand how we use symbology line upon line to understand what's going on here we're in acts 3 1 it's not a coincidence that they go to Solomon's porch because a point is want to be God wants to drive a point home to us and we're going to see it in John chapter 10 verse 24 then came the Jews round about him and said unto him how long does that verse 24 how long the staff does thou make us to doubt if thou be the Christ tell us plainly what's their argument their argument is if you claim to be the Messiah just tell us in plain language because we don't like this coded language that you're using verse 25 jesus answered them I told you and ye believe not when did he tell them he told them during the first year of his ministry in plain language and they refused to believe then he said you believe not then he says the work that I do in my father's name they bear witness of me those works that he is doing is the works of parable teaching their Indian and the enacted parables that he does after his first year so their question tell us plainly are you God or are you not God he says I told you right at the beginning but you wouldn't accept it now I'm only going to do it through enacting parables and those parables bear witness of Who I am those parables are the reformed lines that we understand if you understand the connection between what I'm saved cheering in chapter 10 of John and Acts chapter 3 you should begin to understand if you making the connections who Peter and John are claiming to be verse 26 but she believed not because she are not my sheep as I said unto you my sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me remember this man had already heard about Jesus we never got an opportunity to meet him the sheep had heard about him and then he says he sheep hear my voice they know them and they follow me who is this man following Peter and John but Peter and John are standing in Solomon's porch where Jesus is standing and everyone wants to know in plain language who did Peter and John claimed to be because this man knows who they are he'd heard about Jesus before but when those words come out they know who this person is they this man knows who this person is verse 28 and I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand my father which gave them to me is greater than all and no man is able to pluck them out of my father's hand I and my father are one then the Jews took up stones and stones again to stone him in jesus answered them many good works have I showed you from My Father for which of those works do you stone me the Jews answered and said answer he answered him saying for a good work we stone thee not but for blasphemy and because thou being a mere man makest thyself God jesus answered them is it not written in your law I said Ye are gods he's quoting if you're not familiar with Psalms 82 verse particularly verse 6 but you could go from verses 1 to verse 8 Psalms 82 verse 6 says I have said Ye are gods and all of your children are of the Most High if you understand what Psalms 82 from verses 1 to 8 is this God is what kind of a God it's a God that brings judgment you see the context of it it says you are God which is Christ's argument because Christ is the third angel in this context verse 35 John 10:35 if he called them gods unto whom the Word of God came and the scripture cannot be broken say ye of him whom the father has sanctified and sent into the world thou blasphemous because I said I am the son of God if I do not the works of my father believe me not but if I do but if I do though you believe me not believe the works that they may know that you may know and believe that the father is in me and I in him if you bring all of that the import of what's been introduced there and bring it back to Acts chapter 3 verse 11 why they standing in Solomon's porch who are Peter and John claiming to be there claiming to be Christ and this man recognizes that and if we were to go on from Acts chapter 3 to the end of the chapter and then we were to go into chapter 4 the people the Sanhedrin are going to take these men captive and they're going to start investigating them and interrogating them saying who do you think you are the same argument that they're going to have in Solomon's porch with Jesus less than 12 months prior to that verse 12 and when Oh acts 3:12 and when Peter saw it he answered unto people you men of Israel why Marvel ye a days are ye look he so earnestly on us as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk the God of Abraham and the god of Isaac and the God of Jacob the god of Our Fathers hath glorified this son of Jesus through His Son Jesus whom ye delivered up and denied him in the presence of Pilate when he was determined to let him go Peter is saying we're just men you need to look to Jesus now he might say those words in his humility but what is inspiration teaching us I'm suggesting is teaching us otherwise this man can distinguish between the voice of a man and between the voice of God when he sees and hears what Peter is saying we'll skip down to verse 14 and 15 and 16 verse 17 and now brethren I wot not through ignorance she did it as did also your rulers but those things which God before had showed by the mouth of all his prophets that Christ should suffer he hath so fulfilled repent ye therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of from the presence of the Lord and he shells telling Jesus Christ which before was preached unto you I've only got a few minutes and I'm not gonna be able to go through verse 19 in the way that I would have liked it but I wanted us to make this one point out on why in this passage is going to say and he shall send Jesus Christ which before was preached unto you and making a future event she talks about this has been the second advent in a number of different places the second advent on this line you would place here so she will say it's the coming of Jesus would be here but Peter in this context is not doing that verse 20 and he shall send Jesus Christ which before was preached unto you and this is how you know verse 21 whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things which God has spoken by the mouth of all his prophets since the world began so all the prophets have spoken about the times of restitution which are identifying when Jesus will come Jesus in this context he's not coming here and this is the proof verse 23 no first 22 for Moses truly said unto the father the prophets shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren like unto me him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you so Moses at 3:22 when he says the prophets going to be raised up who is that prophet that he's referring to Jesus Christ it's clear contextually now she's quote sorry Peter is quoting when it says Moses says this he's quoting from Deuteronomy chapter 18 verse 18 and you turn to me 18:18 is not here on a reform line where is Deuteronomy 18 18 it's here at the increase of knowledge and the increase of knowledge when we make a ray mark here would be 91 92 and this would be 89 but we also know that the increase of knowledge can be expressed as an increasing line so this prophet Jesus Christ whom the heavens are gonna send sorry verse 20 and he shall send Jesus Christ which was before preached unto you by these prophets he's identifying this as the birth of Christ into the baptism of Christ he's not talking about it in a future context he'll go on from verses 24 and onwards the reason why this is important for us to understand is because when we come to an application of 3:19 and then why we'll pick up that phrase the blotting out of sin and she's going to place it in the times of refreshing which is the times of restitution and the times of restitution and the times of refreshing this period here but contextually you cannot make the argument that that is what Peter is teaching he's teaching another truth his focus in acts 3:19 is about repentance and conversion that your sins may be blotted out when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord I'm gonna have to finish it runs out in two minutes that's why I was going to finish I want us to understand that acts 3:19 is a parallel passage to acts 228 and when you understand this connection you can begin to see the argument that Peter is making that you need to have your life in order here it's 911 before you can be a partaker of the refreshing and the restoration in our movement we're focused upon the blotting out of sin being an experience that happens in this history here and what we haven't focused on but we're beginning to pay critical attention to is that before that work can ever happen there needs to be a work of blotting out of sin beforehand this is the work of conversion repentance and conversion that Peter is talking about here before you can be a partaker of the refreshing and the restoration this issue is going to become an increasing issue as we begin to develop our understanding of our reform line as we investigate further the work of the investigative judgment and the blotting out of sin and how it connects to us to us individually and all a corporate movement so this is why I've been taking a lot of time in this last trimester talking about the nature of man the sin problem so that we can understand in a clearer fashion what Peter is talking about here and what we mean when we talking about the blotting out of sin and the times were refreshing in connection with baptism and repentance let's pray Heavenly Father we want to give you praise and thanks for your goodness and mercy help us Lord to come to a place where we can divide the Word of God correctly we know that we come before you with preconceived ideas we're with many things that we need to learn enter unlearn what helped us to have confidence in the work that you have been doing with your people for many years now and as we enter into the last fragments of probationary time when everything that can be shaken is being shaken may each of us stand firm may we place we wait may we pay close attention to the words of life that you have given to us and made each of us in our group studies in our personal devotion divide the Word of God correctly so that we might make a correct application of that which you want us to understand as we consider the nature of man as we consider the work of the gospel as we consider the relationship of repentance and conversion to that work we ask for continued wisdom in Jesus's name you
