family father we thank you for another day of life for waking us this morning we know that there's some here on the campus it may still be a little bit deal we ask that you return and restore their health and as we take up the study this mine we ask for the presence of your Holy Spirit we we know that we're living in the time the latter rain and they ask you to die to rain down upon us at this time we thank you for these blessings in Jesus name brother Nathan Sabbath school yesterday you worked if you weren't listening to it you wouldn't have heard it it wasn't a big deal but I want to make sure that we understand it he was putting he was suggesting that there's an incorrect understanding of the nature of price and the incorrect understanding of the nature of Christ and that's all well and good but I would understand there's more than one incorrect understanding of how nature's Christ's attention okay there's only one correct one yet there's more than one way to be an error on that section and from what I understand brother Parminder and I are on the same page but I know from my interactionism that he is primarily addressing no misunderstanding about the nature of Christ one primary one so he's directing the things that he's been saying about it towards that what he understands the default view I could be incorrect on that but people came in visited a link and they had heard from someone in here something and I brought it up on the way home from church yesterday and everyone not everyone but many of you seem to express the same thing that brother Parminder is teaching that we can save ourselves and so I just did a quick preview of desire Vedas put it into record there's three paragraphs here I want to read but the the center paragraph makes my point about what I understand brother Parminder to be doing he's putting some logic in place just help us think through the implications of this and he's also doing it because he's addressing a problem that he knows his out there so he's got I think a secondary reason but notice in the second paragraph there the boldface the expulsion of sin is the act of the soul itself that's inspired work okay if you leave it at that you can understand that to mean that we save ourselves the expulsion of sin is the act of the soul itself you follow me but when you read the whole paragraph that's not what it's saying but for someone to to want us to understand the role that our will and choice plays in victory over sin they can amplify that that thought in order to get us to think through so this is just a few paragraphs of the desire baton top one the tempter can never compel us to do evil he cannot control minds unless they are yielded to his control the will must consent faith must let go it's hold upon Christ before Satan can exercise his power upon us I would say at that point if you do an easy study inspiration teaches us that we're either decidedly on the side of Satan or decidedly on the side of Christ there is no middle ground here you're either under the influence of Satan or under the influence Christ so if you're if you're under the influence of Christ then you have the power obeyed available to exercise your will in exfoliant expelling sin from your own experience but that's that's but between the lines in here but every selfish desire we cherish affords him Satan the foothold every point in which we fell a meeting the divine standard is an open door by which he can enter to tempt and destroy us and every failure or defeat on our part gives occasion for him to reproach Christ that's page 125 desire of Ages page 466 says this in the work of redemption there is no compulsion no external force is employed under the influence of the Spirit of God man is left free to choose whom he will serve in the change that takes place when the soul surrenders to Christ there is the highest sense of freedom the expulsion of sin is the act of the soul itself but the context here says this is someone that is under the influence of the Spirit of Christ and who has surrendered to Christ true we have no power to free ourselves from Satan's control but when we desire to be set free from sin and in our great need cry out for a power out of and above ourselves the power of the soul are imbued with divine energy of the Holy Spirit and they obey the dictates of the will in fulfilling the will of God eight-six HD 8 all true medians comes from the heart so where's disobedience come from the heart it was heart work with Christ and if we consent he will so identify himself with our thoughts and aims so blend our hearts and minds into conformity to his will that when obeying him we shall be but carrying out our own impulses the will refined and sanctified will find its highest delight in doing his service when we know God is as it is is as it is our privilege to know him our life will be a life of continued obedience through appreciation of the character of Christ or communion with God sin will become hateful to us you could take that Center sentence and say how would you say it obey obedience is we're carrying out our own impulses in it and being obedient but you're cutting out the fact that the one that is being obedient is someone that has Christ abiding in their higher nature and exercising empowering their will so in terms of that discussion we had on the way home I don't believe it all that that's what he's teaching these team is you know and to take that and tell others without the background for that it's probably not a good idea there was new leading people to believe that we're teaching that you've been handed two sets of notes and you probably can see that we're going to be looking at the Book of Daniel but we're going to start in second Peter chapter 1 so let's go to 2nd Peter chapter 1 and start in verse 12 test could you read verses 12 just read 12 okay what is Peter saying here how do we get established in the present truth anybody yes he's going to put you in remembrance of things that you already know by going over stuff you already know establishes you in the present truth and what would Peter be if he didn't do that negligent I'm not gonna be negligent I'm gonna take tell you stuff you already know and that's going to establish you and present truth verse 13 says yay I think it meat as long as I am in this Tabernacle to stir you up by putting you in remembrance now what is he saying what's his Tabernacle so while I'm alive I'm going to remind you of stuff you already know verse 14 knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath showed me moreover I will endeavor that you may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance now what's he saying when I die I'm still going to keep reminding you of stuff you already know how much does Peter want us to be established in the present truth yes so he's going to take us over and over things in verse 16 for we have not followed cunningly devised fables when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ but what I witnesses of his majesty so he's saying we didn't make this stuff up we haven't followed man we haven't followed the our own imaginings they were eyewitnesses of his majesty when when did they when were they eyewitness of his majesty he goes on to say penny would you like to read 17 and 18 God the Father honor and glory when there came such a voice again from the excellent glory this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased and this voice which came from heaven we heard when we were with him in the Holy mouth so what experience is he speaking of here what did the eye witness the voice of food voice of the Father what else did he eyewitness he saw Christ glorified can you imagine that we were eyewitnesses we saw it we heard it and they felt him too didn't they they they they very close experience with with deity but then verse 19 says we have also a more sure word of prophecy so prophecy is more sure than what you see with your eyes hear with your ears in touch with your hands where until you do well that you take heed as unto a light that shine a--the in a dark place until the day dawn and the day star arise in your hands so we didn't get to stand on the Mount of Transfiguration but we need to take heed to this shore water prophesying will have the same experience it's more sure we can trust it more than that experience until when what's it what's it going to affect in us yeah what happens when the day dawns Sun gets up yeah and what happens when the Sun gets up what are we supposed to do it wakes us up doesn't it does it get you up no I I would love to think every day that the Sun would get me out of bed but we have to get ourselves out of bed doesn't it but but we wake up it wakes us up we were the ones are going to get up and then the day star rises in your heart so there's a a spiritual experience that goes along with an intellectual understanding of prophecy verse 20 Bob could you read that knowing this first that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation and 21 where the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man but holy men of God spake that they were moved by the Holy Ghost okay so prophecy is of no private interpretation then whose interpretation is it who gave it yeah there's a yeah so so men gave the prophecy as they were moved by the Holy Spirit so it's a combined effort so who's going to interpret the prophecies the scripts the men they gave it that when inspired by the Holy Spirit it's like anything if you want to know what somebody's saying you ask the person who's saying it so how do we get to ask the holy men that were moved by the Holy Spirit what they were talking about well we have to ask the Holy Spirit so and go to first Corinthians chapter 2 first Corinthians chapter 2 verse 12 and 13 Chameli could you read that please nicely now we have received not the spirit of the world but the spirit which is of God that we might know the things that are pretty given to us at God which things also we speak not in the words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Ghost teacheth comparing spiritual things with spiritual thank you for the first thing to notice there is there's two types of spirits isn't there spirit of the world and the spirit that's of God now the spirit that is of God speaks in a certain way he teaches and Jesus said he was going to send this Holy Spirit as a teacher and every teachers got a method what's this teachers method comparing spiritual spiritual we can give that that a number of terms currently how else can we explain that that's it line upon line create anything else proof texting yes repeating in large yes and then there's one more that I can think of Daniel 12 verse four says many shell to and fro it's all saying the same thing line upon line repeating and large comparing spiritual spiritual if we follow that method then we're not following a private interpretation so that's we're going to review the Book of Daniel and we're going to see how the whole Book of Daniel is is governed by that principle it's built on the principle of repeating in large of line upon line and I in doing that I know we're going to be going over stuff we already know but the idea is that we get established in the present truth so you have a sheet of paper there you could fill it in if you like you can make paper airplanes if you like you can fill it in before we go or as we go and we're going to go over the prophecies of Daniel and there are how many major prophecies of Daniel if we were to you're going to go Daniel two seven eight and 11 and understand when we say eight we mean eight nine because they go together and when you say 11 you mean 10 and 11 and 12 because they all go together and we're going to put them all down on a line the lot that we'll see that they're built on a vertical line and then we're going to see how they add up on a horizontal line and put those lines on lines so what might seem is a big picture at first we're going to gradually go down and see it see more detail and see what increase of knowledge we can get okay now why are we reviewing Daniel why is Daniel important to us what makes Daniel so the Book of Daniel so special true tarot and Daniel is who we are and where to stand in our life and that later days ready to answer the call of garden disabilities purpose there's another reason I'm thinking of why the Book of Daniel would be that important to us yes yeah where are we told that it would be sealed go to Revelation chapter 10 Revelation chapter 10 talks about a mighty angel that comes down he's clothed with the cloud and a rainbow about his head and it's foot on the land and on the sea and we know that angel to be no less a personage than Jesus Christ and what does Jesus Christ ask us to do yes and let's read verses well we read verses 8 to 10 assists anthem which I heard from heaven speak unto me again and said go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon deer and I went on to the angel and said unto him give me the little book and he said unto me take it and eat it up and it shall make thy belly picture but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey and I took the little book out of the Angels hand and ate it up and it was in my mouth sweet as honey and as soon as I had eaten it my belly was better in the soil and he said unto me thou must prophesy again before many peoples and nations and tongues and kings thank you so why is the Book of Daniel important to us but true because of the Millerites verse 8 who's speaking Jesus Christ the mighty angel and what's he telling his people at the end of the world that word go is a command we're commanded to do what 2 things to take the little book and to eat it that would take is means to take one to oneself to own it you got to take the Book of Daniel and make it your own it's what makes us as a people it's what made the millwrights who they were yes a word saying words yes take it take it we're commanded to take it it's yours make it your own and then what we're to do with it when we do that eat it and what do you do when you eat you too don't you back and forth to and fro right we should chew it and we know the saying you're not what you eat your watch you you are what you eat but it's not necessarily you are what you eat because what do what's going to happen to the food you you're not what you eat you watch your yeah some people say what you digest but you could go in from foot further and that's it's what you assimilate because you can eat something and it just goes diet has no benefit it's how does that goodness get to every cell in your body how do you chew it what what what how do you take that food and make it your own so that's a row who would suggest that the Book of Daniel is so important to us is because there's no other book where God has commanded us you take it it's yours it will become part of you and not only as an individual but when we know as a people so let's go to well we'll go to Daniel - now before I came into this message my family and I used to watch or listen back in the days of cassette tapes does anybody remember what a cassette tape is probably used to listen to a lot of old ministers and one of them if I say dr. Leslie Harding does that ring a bell with anybody yeah that we used to listen to him a lot and anything that we thought was old and good meaty and he did some studies on Daniel and I think it was standard Adventist teaching to say that the prophecies of Daniel or the Book of Daniel is built on seven prophecies and seven stories and the prophecies tell you when and the stories tell you what character you have to have when the wind takes place so the prophecies and the stories go together but as we've learned through this message I'd like to suggest that the prophecies tell you more than when the prophecies also tell you what character you have to have when the wind takes place and that's what we want - one of the objects we want to see as we go through Daniel 2 7 8 and 11 as it's telling us more about events than what we realize it's telling us or many Adventists realize telling us what what character needs to be developed telling us about the the what God requires of his people when the winds taking place it's not just in the stories even though they go hand in club yes brother understanding in the Book of Daniel that the prophecies tell us when and the stories tell us what we're supposed to be like and you're saying that the prophecies themselves also tell us what we're supposed to be like I would I would say also that the stories are prophecy penny yes yes I want Adventist and when I think of dr. Harding and and that she'll call him I have to threat third generation they they started they separated the stories and the prophecies even though they were saying they were together they failed to see all that was in the stories and they failed to see all that was in the prophecies and so that separation of the two started to take place and when you start sharing as it's been my privilege in the last couple of years to go around sharing the message with people is you realize just how little people know the Adventists just aren't taught anything even of the basic prophecies and I remember we had a Sabbath school once when our new pastor young fella came to the to church and had to sit through one of our other schools and afterwards he came up to me and he said where'd you get this close of our patient from well he'd never heard of it come out over and I'll never heard of close of probation okay so they obviously don't talk much about Daniel and now I've just heard recently they're not even allowed to share Daniel too so you know people like me that came into adventism on Daniel revelation seminar there's not a lot of that anymore so we're done through social networking so there's a lot that people don't know so I'm not suggesting about of this room but I think that we if we go over these things will get more established in the more detailed messages that we know so what did I say Daniel - so and we should know of all people we should know that the prophecies do tell us more than just the wind because what's our definition of a prophecy from second selected messages history in advance yep second sector messages 102 prophecy was seen to be a delineation of event figurative delineation of events leading down to the close of this world's history so prophesying you put it on a line and we know that our lines are reformed lines and what's the purpose of a reformed line which we got hammered into us at the camp meeting to restore the image of God in man so it's more than just events isn't it okay so Daniel chapter 2 and I was going to sort of treat this as an open book quiz but quiz but we will read some portions so let's read verses 31 to 35 and brother Jason could you read that please mr. 130-135 no King Josiah from before a great image this great image whose brightness was excellent stood before D and off for four opposed turban content yes please 31 to 35 and this image head was of fine gold his breast was is his breast and his arms were silver his belly miss Tyler broke his leg of iron his feet part the fire and Pollock pay for those still a stone cut out of widows hand we spot the image upon his feet that were high on clay and break them in pieces then was the iron the clay the brass silver under Goldberg in pieces together and became like a child of summer flow and the wind carried them away and no place was found for them under under the stone that spot the image became a great mountain and filled to hold her thank you brother okay so how many kingdoms of Bible prophecy have we got in that vision well let's start what the first one is head of head of gold second silver what do we call that short chest then we've got belly of brass and then we've got legs of iron and then we've got we've got a stone how many kingdoms universal kingdoms about five five kingdoms okay right in each line of these prophecies that we're going to go through God's not only going to tell us about the kingdoms of this world but he's going to explain about his kingdom and how they interact and how what character is needed to be along to to belong to his kingdom and we're also going to learn as we go through the development of his kingdom also each prophecy is built on a different theme there's a theme to each line of prophecy and that's what we need to look at as we look at repeatin enlarge if you go to your notes review and Herald February 6 1902 the page a brother Jason would you read oh sorry our brother Richard in the past the Lord God of ages revealed his secrets to his prophets the omniscient looked down the centuries and predicted through his prophets derive the rise and fall of kingdoms herds of years before the events foretold took place the present and the future are equally clear to God and he shows his servants what shall be his voice echoes down to Ages telling man what is to take place kings and princes take their position at the appointed time they think they are carrying out their own purposes but in reality they are fulfilling the Word of God the word God has given through his prophets the act their parting carrying out God's great plan invents fallen to life fulfilling the word the Almighty has spoken okay so the kings and princes take their position at the appointed time they think their carrying out their own purposes but in Rowlett reality they're fulfilling God's purposes okay God is in control just I guess that's introduction let's go to Daniel 1 verse 1 and 2 because this is where like it's um if any verse states up more clearly it's in verses 1 & 2 we just read that in the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem and besieged it and the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand with part of the vessels of the house of God which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his God and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his God when we look at these verses can you I want you to see how many pairs of things are in these verses how many doubles how many pairs we've got a pair of big boys Pera vessels there's two sets of vessels there's the vessels that come from the gods temple and then there's a treasure house of that would contain vessels as well any other pairs to two houses of gods or to temples compared to Kings there's two cities there's two lands so so let's go through and there's two kings joy came and Nebuchadnezzar there's two cities Jerusalem Babylon there's two lands isn't there because there's Judah and Babylon two temples - two sets of vessels and what what is happening in these verses one is being taken captive Judah is taken captive by Babylon but who's in control yeah and how do we know that and the Lord gave so what appears on the surface to be Babylon in control of the situation we're told very clearly that the Lord is in control and he's taken his people and he's placed them in the hands of the Babylonians and we're going to see that that's a theme through all these kingdoms we need to know why God's taking his people and giving them into the hands of the Babylonians we know he's working his purposes out we need to see what that it's almost a symbiotic relationship between God's kingdom and the kingdoms of this world and so I guess on top of that if we went to Daniel 2 verse 21 says and and this is part of Daniels prayer once he's a vision of Daniel two has been revealed to him and it says talking of God he changes the times and the seasons he removeth kings and setteth up Kings so God is in control and then in Daniel chapter 4 verse 17 Daniel speaking to Nebuchadnezzar this matter is by decree of the Watchers and the demand by the word of the Holy Ones to the intent that the living may know that the most high rules in the kingdom of men and giveth it to whomsoever he will and set us up over at the basest of men so we just need to scratch that on the inside of our islands God is in control of how many kingdoms five kingdoms and he sets up in those kingdoms men and he's in control he's carrying out his purposes and what's his purpose to fulfill the image of God in man so I mean no Daniel starts with Judah being falling and being taken captive of Babylon is this really the great controversy and by the time we get to the end of the book you know we'll see the reverse take place okay so Daniel chapter 2 we see the outline of the kingdoms what's the theme of Daniel 2 let's read verse 37 and 38 sister Shekinah Oh Daniel chapter 2 sorry Daniel - back to the vision 37 of 38 we're looking for a thing thou Oh King Arthur King of Kings for the God of heaven have given the kingdom power and strength and glory and wheresoever the children of men dwell the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven have he given us into thine hand and has may be ruler over them all that are his head of gold okay a thing is in this verse first two verses of the explanation what is the head of gold what what does Daniel tell Nebuchadnezzar the head of gold is he is the head of gold so the head of gold is a it's a king but then the next verse says after they shall rise another what do you need what what do you need to be a kingdom of Bible prophecy a king and a kingdom and that might seem like a bit too easy peasy but it's really important because by the time we get down to here what does the church teach and it's just a king all right what the church has done is it's gone well let's run through what who's the head of gold Nebuchadnezzar it's Nebuchadnezzar and Babylon who's the chest of silver it's derailleurs cyrus artaxerxes and the Medes and Persians who's the belly of brass Alexander the Great and Greece what about and this is something that let's actually go there go to verse 40 the fourth Kingdom and we're out to you by the Jonathan verse 14 and the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron for as much as I'll break it in pieces and subdueth both things as iron that breaketh all these all these shall it break in pieces and how many times do you see the word break in that verse how many times three times okay we know iron Kingdom to be who Rome and what does it say Rome does breaks breaks breaks there are three phases of Rome and so we see as far as the kings go in the legs of iron who's the King Caesar in the it's belly right in the the feet do we see a king in the feet look at that more closely we have can you have a papacy without a pope no and then we'll see we'll see Kings also there with with Rome we'll go into that with a bit more detail and then we get down to the stone kingdom we see we're going to see a king and a kingdom and why that's so important is because what the church has done is it's gone Babylon me to Persia Greece Rome Rome breaks up into the countries of Europe and then Jesus comes and we've got this great void of history in between and we're floating around in the middle there we don't know how far we are away from that we know where he away from you know right the breakup of Europe and we've got no purpose and no message so we know there's a lot of history that is in Daniel 2 that gets skipped over if we went when we understand that each kingdom is a king and a kingdom and and the the stone being Jesus Christ in his people we've seen in other analogies in the Bible where is how else is Jesus portrayed as being associated with his people thinking the Gospels he's referred to as a a shepherd can you have a shepherd without sheep can have sheep without a shepherd no there's many analogies that are pictures of Jesus where he he always identifies himself with his people the hand with his chickens yes can you have a you know a priest without a temple and you have a temple without a priest that those kind of analogies yes yes okay so let's look a little closer let's actually let's read from your notes from youth instructor September 29 1903 sister Sarah hundreds of years before a few nations came up on the stage of action the omniscient one lived down through the ages and convicted through disturbance of prophets the rise and fall of the universal kingdoms the prophet Daniel went interpret interpreting to the king of Babylon the dream of the great image and image symbolic of the kingdoms of the world declared to Nebuchadnezzar that his kingdom should be superseded his greatness and power in God's world would have their day and a second Kingdom would arise which also would have its period of trial as to whether it would exalt the one ruler the only true God not doing this its glory would fade away and the third kingdom would occupy its place but obedience or disobedience this also would pass away and a fourth strongest iron would subdue the nations of the world these predictions of the infinite one recorded on the prophetic page and traced on the pages of history were given to demonstrate that valve is the ruling power in the affairs of this world he changes the times and the seasons he removes kings and sets up kings to fulfill his own purpose thank you anybody like to comment on that are we ready so we're looking at the rise and fall of universal kingdoms and this is pretty much saying what we've discussed that God is in control we might read the next one as oh yes well part of the Omega error is that they're looking in Daniel for the struggle between the Republicans and Democrats in the United States there got an internal you know model but it's repeatedly identified as the rise and fall of universal kingdoms of King of the world there they're missing that component and which when we get down to the stone Kingdom is really important because how do we see the church triumphant it's a universal kitten kingdom and sometimes I think it's easy to look at Babylon medo-persia go yet God was in control he put the men in place and then we look at the kingdom we're meant to belong to and we question how much control God is in so we have to apply those same principles to the kingdom we we profess to be citizens of and it's a universal Kingdom it's worldwide robot the center will center on the right side of that paragraph it says prove by obedience or this will be becomes all yeah God loves every soul and he's what the way he works to bring them into connection with his truth isn't the way we would work you know he knows what is best to work for both parties but for both his people that need correcting and they establishing in the truth and also the people of the world so they we have to trust the way he goes about it everybody's on test and trial everybody's going to be proved by obedience or disobedience sister Tamina could you read the next quote from prophets and Kings 548 we need to learn how worthless is mayor outward and worldly glory Babylon with all its power and magnificence the like of which our world has never since beheld power and magnificence which to the people that Bank seems so stable enduring our completely passive passed away as the flower of the grass it has perished James 1 verse 10 so perished a medium and Kingdom and the kingdoms of Grecian Rome and so Paris all that have not that has not God for its foundation only that was you bound up with this surface expresses its character can encourage these principles are the only status based things thank you okay so what indoors his principles his purpose which takes us really to we want to be we want to be fellow citizens with Daniel don't we Daniel's going to stand in his lot fulfilling God's purpose at the end of the world we know he's in the right place and they're belonging to the right Kingdom expressing his character it's an interesting comment there where it says the people of the day looked at their kingdom and thought it was so stable and so enduring and people we can apply that to God's spiritual Kingdom as well when people look at the church and think it's you know it's got some problems a bit wobbly but everything gets tested and tried according to to obedience okay so some basic things here let's see let's well if at first glance then when we when we look at the image and we noticed the makeup of the image what what's the obvious obvious thank you of the makeup of the image how does it progress they'll get weak weaker well in what way what way did I get week after day in value okay so in value they decrease but it acts like actually they get stronger they get harder alright so at the same time they're getting wake up they're also getting harder what's the weakness and what's the hardness let's read from first manuscript release page 50 and where are we up to our brother Jeff built Nebuchadnezzar while representing the deterioration of the kingdoms of the earth and power and glory also fitly represents the deterioration of religion and morality among the people of these kingdoms as nations forget God and like proportion they become weak morally babblin passed away because in her prosperity she forgot God and described the glory of her prosperity to human achievement the medo-persian kingdom was visited by the wrath of heaven because in this kingdom God's law was trampled underfoot the fear of the Lord found no place in the hearts of the people the prevailing influences in medo-persia were wickedness blasphemy and corruption the kingdoms that followed were even more base and corrupt they deteriorated because they cast off their allegiance to God as they forgot him they sink lower and still lower in the scale of moral values thank you so morally they decrease through the ages but what increased when when our sister Cathy said with with the the they decreased in value but they increased in hardness so as morals were decreasing the hardness of men's hearts were increasing and as you look through these ages at these kingdoms and go down through the ages and you see how these kingdoms treated God's people it's very easy easy to see how their hearts got harder and that's why when you get to the fourth kingdom what does it do to God's people according to verse 40 breaks breaks breaks if you go to Daniel verse 7 which we'll do next time it breaks devours stamps it's the people that you know the persecution of God's people becomes more and more worse through the years I mean that Nebuchadnezzar was a pretty good guy when you think of Daniel chapter 3 that was pretty much an anomaly of his history anomaly in his history is never his intention to destroy Jerusalem if they just had to come under his control Paul refers to them as benefactors or philanthropists you know he fed them home housed them it educated them so he was a decent man but as you go down through the ages that that just dude decreases and decreases so we're going to have a closer look at these feet and toes part of iron part of our miry clay let's establish what iron is let's go to Revelation chapter 2 because it's the kingdom that we'll get we'll get greater detail of as we go through the prophecies Revelation chapter 2 verse 26 and 27 I sister Cathy and keepeth my works unto the end to him I will I give power over the nation's and he shall rule them with a rod iron rod of iron and the vessels of the Potter shall be shall they be broken to shivers even as I received of my father thank you sir here we've got this is referring to Christ oh no it is referring to his people actually he that overcometh and keepeth my works unto the EM well he give power over the nation's and how is he going to wield that power over the nation's verse 27 with a rod of iron iron represents power over nations and what do we call that type of power that nations have a civil power is a civil power state power and also here we see this we're talking about the church at I retire here we also had see the reference here to a Potter so we see iron and clay mixed in here but if you go to Revelation 19 and and this is referring to Christ Revelation 19 verse 15 brother Jim you're right a 19-15 I'll be bothered I'm sorry Sue Ellen have you got it that's okay I feel your pain and out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword that with it he should smite the nation's and he shall rule them with a rod of iron and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God ok so here we see nations are ruled with rods of iron iron is state power and then how do we show what the clay is let's go to Isaiah actually we might just well we'll go to Isaiah 64 8 Isaiah 64 8 and Sue Ellen point but now O Lord thou art our Father we are the clay and thou our Potter and we all are the work of thy hand thank you now that the clay the we hear is referring to God's people his Jews they're referred to as clay but go to Jeremiah 18 1 to 6 Jeremiah 18 if you can continue reading that Jeremiah 18 verses 1 to 6 the word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord saying arise and go down to the potter's house and there I will cause thee to hear my words then I went down to the potter's house and behold he wrought a work on the wheels and the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the Potter so he made it again another vessel as seemed good to the Potter and the seemed good to the Potter to make it then the word of the Lord came to me saying o house of Israel cannot I do with you as this Potter saith the Lord behold as the clay is in the Potters hand so are ye in mind and the house of Israel thank you so clay here is referring to church but this isn't just any old Church this is God's church and there's a principle in these verses what's the principle in these verses what does God do when the vessel hasn't turned out quite right steak's it starts again doesn't he yeah God can start again so but the clay that's in Daniel chapter 2 isn't just ordinary clay is it in the feet of iron and clay what what's the description of it Mauri so let's go to 2nd Peter chapter 2 what difference does that make 2nd Peter 2:22 22 sister Cheryl second Peter 2 22 22 before if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ they are again entangled therein and overcome the latter end is worse than that than the beginning or it has been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness then after they had known it to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them but it happened unto them according to the true proverb the dog has turned to his own vomit grant and this out that was washed to her wallowing in the mire thank you so the the the so the sale the pig that was washed returns to her wallowing in the mire and we wouldn't call it my today would we what would we call it mud mud filth okay the wallows in filth what why are they wallowing in filth what's the parable here according to verse 20 and 21 the pollutions of this world so what makes if clay is Church what makes it miry clay it's a worldly Church okay it says that the absorbed the filth sorry it's God does not wear yo actually it's a bit different to having a dust on your face but then to being whole Mauri but that's okay so it's the pollutions of this world you've got a worldly church what will a worldly church do according to Daniel 2 verse 41 what does a worldly church need when you think that this kingdom is decreasing in morality how's it going to make its people moral it's going to have to try and combine with something isn't it it's a filthy polluted worldly Church in order to control its citizens what's it going to need civil iron okay it needs iron any Church that's corrupt polluted worldly will have to try and bind with the iron to have have any power so you don't have to be Jezebel to need a hub you know you can be any any woman that has become polluted will need the state power that's sort of the principle there okay so let's go back to Daniel chapter 2 when you are actually what we should react wote let's read the quote from 15 manuscript release down the bottom of the first page and we'll start again sister Tess oh sorry brother Larry we have come to a time when God's sacred work is represented by the feet of the image in which the iron was mixed with the miry clay God has a people and chosen people whose discernment must be sanctified who must not become unholy by laying upon the foundation woods hay and stubble every soul who is loyal to the commandments of God will see that the distinguishing feature of our faith is the seventh day 7 if the government would honor the Sabbath as God has commanded it would stand in the strength of God and in defense of the faith once delivered to the Saints but statesmen will uphold the spiria Sabbath and will mingle their religious faith with the observance of this child of the papacy placing it above the Sabbath which the Lord has sanctified and blessed setting it apart for man to keep holy as a sign between him and his people to a thousand generation and then over the page read the next paragraph yes and three okay the mingling of church craft and state craft is represented by the iron in the clay this union is weakening all the power of the churches this investing the church with the power of the state will bring evil results men have almost past the point of God's forbearance they have invested their strength and politics and have united with the papacy but the time will come when God will punish those but may void his law and their evil work will recoil upon themselves in his time for the people of God those who wear the sign of his kingdom and whose authority is derived from it is written to work the world is the field of our labor and we are to strive to give the last message of mercy to the world our every action is being watched with jealous eyes beyond guard as physicians you can't serve the Lord in your position by working with new methods and discarding drugs thank you that last comment kind of seems a bit left-field but if you don't read this passage in context it's spiritually thinking we are the physicians and we're to discard just discard what what we shouldn't be doing but anyway let's go back the first sentence on that first page we have come to a time when God's sacred work is represented by the feet of the image in which the iron was mixed with miry clay sand when we look at the feet of that image what are we looking at our sacred work you say well what what does that mean go to the first sentence of the next paragraph because what is the mingling of the the iron the clay the mingling of church craft and statecraft is represented by the iron in clay so it's a combination of church and state somehow represents our sacred work and then the next at the beginning of the next paragraph says it is time for the people of God those who wear the sign of his kingdom what's the sign of his kingdom the Sabbath and whose authority is derived from it is written our authority is the word of God to work so when are we to work you know when we see Sunday law agitated isn't it it's that combination of church and state that she's talking about here because when when you look at Babylon Nebuchadnezzar and the kingdom of Babylon was that a combination of church and state yeah what wasn't it Nebuchadnezzar was a religious man he was a priest of the order of mark it was a combination of church and state but who was in control the king right so there was nothing really wrong with that worked perfectly until Daniel chapter 3 and he decided to make a BPB priest or be worshipped okay when you'd look at the the Medes and Persians combination of church and state there were religious people in fact they they they didn't just look after the Jews it was any country that they conquered they encouraged them go back get you because they realized that if the people kept their religion they would be more subordinate so they funded all the nations to to rebuild their whatever and be broken down temples the same with Greece will where the Greek gods but again the king was in control of the relationship when we come down to Rome we see a change and we see the switch from the church not at first in the legs of iron the pagan Rome the king was in control but by the time we get to the papacy and then the last manifestation of of Rome we see that it switches so that that's when God's people are to work our sacred work is represented by these feet so as we go through the prophecies we need to learn more detail about that kingdom because that's where we'll see our work and it all has to do with the setting up of the Sabbath the union of iron and clay according to the second paragraph is doing what to the power of the churches it's weakening them they're uniting with the state in order to get power but it's the opposite that actually happens it weakens them okay so our last kingdom there is the stone kingdom so let's go Daniel to verse 44 says and in the days of these kings now what Kings are we talking about shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed and the Kingdom shall not be left to other people but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms and it shall stand forever okay so we've got the stone kingdom what does the stone Kingdom do to the image it breaks it how does it break it other feet yes but I'm trying to think really simply simply what is the stone kingdom doing to the image brother Luke its stoning it thank you so who gets stoned in the Bible why did Stephen get stoned I was preaching against the temple what were they accusing him of then so why do you get stoned you get stoned if you're a blasphemer yeah he was killed that's what he was accused of anyway why else would you get stoned in the Bible adultery so fornication blasphemy can you think of anything else Sabbath breaking you got stone witchcraft you got stoned okay yeah alright disobedience to parents remember a can why do they can get stoned what was he wearing what did he above the line is Garland he got stoned for stealing a babylonish garment so we could just put them all under one heading why do you get stoned for breaking the law so that gives us an insight into what the the image the image represents lawbreakers they get stoned but who does the stoning so let's go to John chapter 8 verse 7 John 8 7 what did Jesus say just Angelia 8 7 so when they continued asking him he does without sin among you let him first cast a stone so what what is the prerequisite to being a citizen of the Stone Kingdom you'll be without sin okay so and we talked about this it can't mean it's how do we picture this stone when we look at the Bible illustrators how is it how do they draw it yes ugly burning molten massive rock that's heading down towards the image but how should we view it yeah a diamond it's flawless whatever it has to be it's got to be harder than iron because it's going to break it so here we've got a perfect picture of a kingdom whose citizens are so connected with their king so identified with their king that they're flawless and that has the ability to bring down that whole kingdom and as we read before the the feet of iron and miry clay is the mingling of church crafts and statecraft which is brought about by Sunday law so what's our work at the end of the world that's going to bring down the image it has to be connected with the Sabbath it has to be connected with keeping the law in order to stone those that are breaking the law right so very very simple principles go to Jeremiah 51 Jeremiah 51 verse 22 24 artists down like my back relax weapons of war Bowie favorite the nation every favor I destroy humans and retable I break your faces the horse and his rider and we pay well I thank you faces the chariot and his rider they also will I break your pieces man and woman and with me my breaking faces old and young and repaying while I breaking pieces for young man and tonight I will also break your face as we play the Shepherd and his flock and we fail I breaking pieces a husband and he Bianca boxer and we play you I breaking pieces captains and movies and I will render under Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldean all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight thank you so God's people are God's battle axe and weapons of war and with thee what's he going to do he's going to break and if you count up the with these how many do you think there are there's ten ten when are we going to break in pieces and Nations when we hit what think of the image what is the stone hit what's on the end of the feet and last time I looked how many did I there's ten of them ten here with thee he's going to break those ten toes and what what are the toes made up of we know there's ten and with it and they're made up of iron and they're made up of clay so here we see the threefold Union at the end of the world and God illustrates in from the beginning doesn't he so the image starts with Babylon oh that ends with Babylon and Babylon is a three-fold Union at the end of the world toes iron clay and God is going to use his people to break them my Rome might think that they're the breakers of God's people and they are that God has somebody to break them as well and I will render unto Babylon verse 24 when does he do that well he has done it typically when Babylon fell but he is going to do it spiritual do it too spiritual Babylon at the end of the world so with the stone kingdom we can call it a Daniel chapter 2 refers to it as the Kingdom of Heaven so we'll call it the kingdom of heaven and we might like to call it the church triumphant so as we work through the rest of these prophecies we're going to see a repeating large of all these kingdoms it's this kingdom here that we really want to these two kingdoms that we'll be focusing on because we want to know well we've already got a partial insight on what it is to belong to the stone kingdom right we've got to be lawkeepers as opposed to lawbreakers but there we're going to get a repeating and large as we go through seven and eight how we how that kingdom is it's a progressive growth actually if we go through that week might um 15 and Mar 39 know we read that go back to Daniel - brother Parminder did this he's explained this quite a few times Daniel chapter 2 verse 34 thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands which smote the image upon his feet that were out of iron and clay and then if we go over to verse 44 I guess 44 and 4 34 and 35 are explained in 44 and 45 44 and in the days of these Kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed and the Kingdom shall not be left to other people but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms and it shall stand forever so as we work through we want to work out who the Kings are at the end of the world that are going to be broken by God's kingdom and how the rest of the kingdoms because the holy image gets destroyed in this process verse 45 for as much as our source that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands and it break in pieces the iron the brass the clay the silver and the gold the great God has made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter and the dream is certain and the interpretation thereof sure so at the risk of plagiarism what have we got a mountain and out of the mountain comes a a stone and the stones going to hit the image where in the feet the kings and then what is it going to become a great mountain the original mountain and the great mountain are not the same mountain so we need to know as we go through what happens to the original mountain because that's never tackled when when you go to a Daniel revelation seminar and how does the stone be then become a great mountain how does a stone turn into a mountain so those are things that we'll tackle as we go through so any questions we're a little bit early but it's I don't really want to start on Daniel we'll do Daniel and seven and eight together because they complement each other next time any questions or comments the feet beware run is already wet Rome to the let's move robro three phases so think legs of iron Hagen Rome yeah feet combination of church and state papal Rome yeah toes we've got threefold ten toes iron play modern Rome at the end of the world so the question is where the stone hits it says it hits at the feet but it also says in the days of these kings so we need to work out which Kings are we talking about brother Larry I guess where the Kings would be revelation 17 that would be my guess too but not everybody agrees with it so we'll look at that we'll look at that closer no cannot accept Adventist Church I'm looking at the great mountains in Daniel 11 verse 45 and this is the glorious holy mountain glorious holy man so I'm looking at that does God Church and and that's the rib as we go through 7 8 and 11 will we'll be able to yet know but we should be able to see through you can probably go through and and fill this out before we even start as we go through the principles because when you get to Daniel chapter 11 you've got a box with three lines in it and that will be the Roman it's three phases that we will put on a line so you if you're wondering what those three lines are in that box under at the bottom of Daniel 11 but we so the other thing we want to see is is how antithetical I guess for the one of a better word God's kingdom is from the gink kingdoms of this world how totally opposite how counterfeit they are and how God uses one to cleanse the other when do you mark that the stone is starting to be cut out of the mountain ah but we'll get to that too once we get these in place what we're going to do is then put them on lines because first of all we need to see what's the repeating enlarge of the stone kingdom in Daniel 7 what's the repeating enlarge or the extra information God is giving us about the stone kingdom in Daniel chapter 8 and then in Daniel chapter 11 then we can put them all on a line and we get a complete picture of God's kingdom at the end of the world brother John how there's some fiber texture shows us Babylon medo-persia Greece and Rome our accommodation of church and state Oh a combination of state in church we read Daniel chapter 1 verse 2 he went and took the vessels of the house of God and put them into the vessels of the temple of here's God yeah it was it was his temple he built it to worship his God so it was very religious man but he for the most part he ruled the he ruled his kingdom as a king not as priests all right let's close it pray dear father in heaven we thank you so much we're privileged to be called seventh-day Adventists at the end of the world that you have commanded us to eat this little book lord help us to make it our own help us to understand these things so fully even though we're going over things we already know that we would be established in the present truth we pray that the day would dawn and the day star will arise in our hearts not for us alone Lord but as we go out to share these truths with others we realize that your people don't know very much at all and help us to understand even these simple things that the harder more complex truths will make more sense to us and so we put this day into your hands we pray for your people they're working for you right across this that the world those that are giving meetings this weekend may you be with them in a mighty way and bless this campus your people your servants we ask in Jesus name Amen
